I’ve been following several indie authors who’ve been reporting their progress with producing audiobooks in the RWA member loops. Then when I went to RWA National Conference, there were several audiobook publishers present as well as some workshops on audiobooks, including a panel of 2 audiobook publishers and an author with a number of audiobooks to her credit.

I decided I definitely wanted to publish Truck Stop as an audiobook, so this morning, I took the plunge! I went to ACX (Audible) and filled out all the forms, and went over the contract (which I was already familiar with from the workshops and authors mentioned above), and submitted a sample for narrators to audition. So now we wait, and see what happens! I’ll be distributing exclusively through ACX, so rather than paying the narrator (Producer) up front, they’ll split the royalties 50/50 with me. The distribution includes Audible, Amazon and iTunes markets. So now… we wait and see what auditions come in!
