A Quick Update on the Anthropic AI Lawsuit


If you've been following the ongoing legal battles between authors and AI companies, here's a quick update worth knowing about!


Authors and publishers sued Anthropic over the use of copyrighted books to train their AI without permission — and this hearing is one of the final steps before the settlement is officially approved.


A hearing for final approval of the settlement in the Anthropic class action case was held on May 14th in federal court in San Francisco. Several objectors raised some important concerns during the hearing.


The judge has requested additional written briefs by May 21st, so we're likely to hear a final ruling shortly (⬅️"shortly" being relative) after that.
