From Fried Chicken to Hellfire

Ever wondered how a writer's mind works? Here's a peek into my admittedly strange thought process (which is actually pretty normal for me):
So, my daughter and her family were heading to Costco, and there's a new Raising Cane's nearby. I found myself contemplating whether to ask them to swing through the drive-thru for some of their absolutely fabulous fried chicken strips.
But then my brain took a detour: Cane's made me think about Cain (biblical, not chicken-related). Which naturally led to thoughts of Lucifer (the TV show, not the actual fallen angel) and what the character said about hell, punishment, and how it's people's own guilt keeps them trapped there, that they could actually leave at any time.
And that sparked another question: What about psychopaths who feel no guilt or remorse? Or those who are so convinced they're RIGHT that anything they do feels completely justified? Do these people get a get-out-of-hell-free card? Can they just stroll away from their cells?
And yes, throughout this entire mental journey, I was perfectly aware the show is fictional! Which made me laugh at myself, but still... I can't help but wonder...???
(This is what happens inside a paranormal romance writer's brain at random moments. You've been warned.)
