Journeys

I always saw my current story as being one young woman’s journey. But this morning, when pondering the length of the manuscript (currently at 619 pages), it suddenly came to me that there are three journeys here. Alyssa, the heroine, does indeed grow into womanhood and love, and evolves into her magical heritage. But the Dark Lord and his people embark on a journey too, from being isolated and insular to integrated with the city and its people. And the city itself evolves from its long history of uneasy balance between its human population and the Others, to blossoming as a place of peaceful coexistence and security.

Just early morning ramblings, as my Muse awakened me far too early to get to work on the manuscript. Simon Legree has nothing on my Muse!

This morning’s writing spot… hanging out with the bats in my Great Cavern. ’cause that’s pretty much my speed right now, ugh.
