A Dash of Vampire is book 4 in the Cocktails in Hell series by S.E. Babin... and So. Much. Fun. Seriously. Just fun.
As for Clara... well. How do introverts make friends? They don't. Extroverts discover them and adopt them. And that's exactly what happens when Clara decides Violet is going to be her bestie. Violet has no choicer in this. WHAT a hoot!!! And the VERY strange (we won't even talk about the unlikeliness) romance between Clara and Dave... just... it blows the mind (and makes me giggle madly).
I read this in one sitting. It was so good I couldn't put it down until the very last page, which was as the sun was coming up... and when I woke up, I had to go back and read the last two chapters because I'd been so sleepy I didn't even know what I was reading, just that I couldn't put it down... it was THAT good!
Violet is simply amazing. She has every reason to want to hide and stay hidden. But she never once hesitates to step up to the plate when it's needed, not even when her own survival is at risk. She is the ultimate protector, and not the least because she doesn't see herself that way. Far from being morally grey, she struggles with every hard decision, even though she doesn't hesitate to make them. And without an ounce of ego or conceit. You simply are compelled to root for Violet... we all need a Violet in our lives, looking out for us!
And the fairy Keelie... ohmigosh I just looove her!!!! She is such a darling. And... okay, I don't want to give spoilers but... I just want to gather her up and hug her and let her know it's going to be okay.... and then make sure it IS okay...
As for the dragons... well... I'm usually a fan, but these suckers got what they asked for. Talk about dishonorable!!!!! They totally deserved it.
Is it weird to talk about how great Lucifer is??? It feels weird. I can't even really feel that he is morally grey; every decision he makes seems to come from a position of... I don't know... considered balance... caring... even common sense. Michael, on the other hand, is a raging megalomaniac and control freak. He isn't even morally grey, he's morally corrupt. It kinda takes the concept of Christianity as we know it and dumps it upside down.. and it works!!! But it's also mixed in with all different pantheons... gods and goddesses, fae, shifters, dragons... and yet, it WORKS! Everything comes together and you'd think it'd be a hodgepodge but it's not, the various meld into seamless worldbuilding that is absolutely stellar.
