Review: At First Bite by Lauretta Hignett

FIVE FREAKING STARS!!!

At First Bite by Lauretta Hignett is the second book in the new (2026) Eternity College Chronicles series, which is a spinoff of Magical Midlife series, which is a spinoff of... which is a spinoff of... let's just say, if you're just discovering Lauretta Hignett, you have a LOT of binge reading in your immediate future!

I absolutely LOVED this book! I started reading in the evening, which was a Bad Idea, because I had to stay up half the night because there was no way I could put it down until the very last word.

Okay, we've met Marie before, and the previous series, and also the first book in this series how. However, despite all that, while I’m reading her face-off with the dean, I’m sitting here thinking "oh, I like this girl!" all over again! I also just love her poor angel, it is freaking fabulous in her attempt to keep Marie on the straight and narrow.

Okay, I have to say... I would NEVER have guessed Marie's real name, which I won’t say here because, spoilers! But I have to say the instant I read it, I absolutely loved it and I thought it was absolutely perfect and also, I giggled madly.

Really, this is a charming, fun read and you absolutely MUST read it! I cannot wait for the next book, and I really really hope the situation with Ackie gets resolved sooner than later because... okay I'm anxious. LOL. Really, I'm anxious and worried for a fictitious character... that's some DAMNED good writing right there!
