Blind Luck is the 5th book in the Blackstone House romantic suspense series by Elise Noble.
I have to say, Erin is just a hoot — the last heroine you'd expect in a romantic suspense novel... but it totally works, mostly because you just gotta love the girl! Especially when you consider the very real horrors of her early life. She's found her people — her brother, his friends, who've become hers too — she has a great job, and life is good. And can I just say, whenever the Choir are involved.... you just have to keep turning the page because you never know what will happen next!
Erin is a curious mix of intrepidity, fear, knowledge and a surprising innocence, and honestly, the little memory vignettes we see of her earlier life will just break your heart... and that's not even when you take into consideration that she just accepts it, as a matter of fact.
And poor Rusty is so in over his head with this group, but he's great at going with the flow — simultaneously horrified and understanding, taking things so slow to build trust with Erin and make sure she's not out of her comfort zone.
And oh, by the way — if you ever want to know some absolutely creative, devious ways to get back at a cheating ex, be sure to check in with Chapter 26. You won't be sorry!
Between the ingenious Erin, the best best-friend ever Rusty, and the team of ultra-cool kick-ass female assassins, this book absolutely rocks! This is my third time reading this particular book in the series, and I'm pretty sure it's my favorite so far.
Oh, and the bad guy got what was coming to him. What's not to love? I can't say how, because... spoilers! But you will ADORE it. I know I did. :)
