Blood Bound is the first book in the Lowrance Vampires series. The first thing you need to know about our heroine, Pepper, is that right from the beginning you just LIKE her. She is utterly relatable, and you just can't help feeling sympathetic to her plight. It's a traumatic situation for her, and the author handles it just beautifully, plus, Pepper is absolutely determined that no one else go through what she did. Who couldn't love that about her?
Then Emerson comes along, and he treats her just like anyone would want to be treated, with respect and the offer of firm support while allowing her to choose her own path, and making sure others understand she is to be allowed to do so. And that makes me just respect the hell out of him. He is an old vampire, and the head of his brood, and he could be a raging asshole with all that control stuff, but he's not.
And then there is Pepper's relationship with the stakes she carves, and that's just... I mean. It seems like it would be silly, you know? But instead, it's... poignant.
I HIGHLY recommend this book, not only because it's terrific but because the third book in the series was just released so you need to get started NOW if you haven't already!
