Yes!!! At last, the mysterious Alexa gets her book... and her man!
Hard Code is the 6th book in the Blackstone House series... and YES! I've been waiting for Alexa's story, and ohmigosh! Poor Nolan!!! I simply died gazillion times over with sympathy for the poor guy. It was absolutely delightful <snickers>
Payback is such a bitch. Repeat after me: if you meddle in the affairs of your friends, your friends are going to meddle right back. And Jez gets her own back in spades! Mwahaha
And can I say, that Female assassins are just absolutely the best. And when they come in teams? Things just don’t get better than that.
A favorite quote: "They had therapists on hand for those weirdos who like to talk about their problems." heh. Poor, poor Nolan. I mean, I feel sorry for the guy, I do, but all I can do is laugh his agony. Box breathing!!! Poor Nolan!
As for Alexa, well. I can really love a woman who believes in revenge, and doesn't mind waiting until it's ice cold. She plays the long game and it is utterly worth it every time.
Favorite line in the book: "A real man would know how to fix an engine."
Next favorite line: "Did you know you could buy termites on the Internet?"
That last one should terrify you. Damn, this woman is devious, and ingenious.
OK, so this Marielle is really really getting on my nerves. The father we get into the book, the more she gets on my nerves, until I’m going to chew through a mouthguard as fast as Alexa. You can actually watch her slowly unravel as the story progresses, and anyone who's ever dealt with a malignant narcissist will have chills of familiarity.
Okay so far in my reviews I have avoided bringing up the question of the murder in Blackstone house years ago. But all along, I've felt (all evidence to the contrary) that Levi was not the murderer. First it was just a gut instinct, but over the course of the series, that's grown stronger, not less. But also as we get farther into the series, the list of potential alternate suspects shrinks exponentially. And then there is the one roommate who could not possibly have done it and was never a suspect...
If you don't read this book, and indeed, this entire series, you are missing out. Utterly delicious!
