Status Report! Last night I hit a milestone… 200,000 words on When Darkness Falls, my paranormal romance trilogy in a 15th Century Arabian Nights type setting. I’m aiming for at least 240,000 total. so far it’s broken down into 68k for book 1, The Palace; 88k for book 2, The Dark Lord; and only 35k so far for book 3, The Prophecy. But the last half of the third book really is hardly even a first draft, it’s more like the bare bones, and that’s where I’ll be doing my most work as stirring events happen. But still, I am TOTALLY thrilled to have hit the 200k words mark!!! I am having a wonderful time with this book! or books, although I still tend to think of it as just one, broken into 3 parts, LOL.
For the most part, The Palace is done and I’m starting to think about opening it up to beta readers. Not quite yet, though, there’s no particular hurry at this point, although I’d like to get The Prophecy whipped into shape so that all 3 books are ready for beta reading as I go into NaNo in November with an entirely different manuscript… probably Michael’s Quest, the third book of the Sons of the Desert contemporary series.
Just for fun… above is a picture I found on Pinterest; this is just how I envision Malikai, the city guard who befriends Alyssa on her first day in the city.
